Job summary

Aggreko seeks a Diesel Generator Technician based in Richmond, VA. You will install, calibrate, and service power generation equipment, including generators, switchgear, and related systems, ensuring safety and reliability for diverse client sites.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose faults, and repair equipment at customer locations or in the service center. A strong background with diesel engines and electrical systems is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required.
• 7+ years of experience working on power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements.
• May be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Based in Richmond, VA service center; perform installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, testing and repair of Aggreko's electrical power distribution equipment.
• Work overtime and weekends; travel may be required.
• Maintain and service power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and oil-free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at shop or customer locations and perform repairs.
• Work solo or with a team to set up and operate equipment at shop and customer sites.

Bring your energy to Aggreko as a Diesel Generator Technician based in Richmond, VA.

You’ll perform installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of Aggreko's electrical power distribution equipment, including transformers, switchgear, load banks, cables, and related systems. This role supports both field and service center operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations, technical standards, and customer expectations.

What you’ll do:

• You’ll be based out of our Richmond, VA. service center.
• You’ll have an opportunity to work overtime and weekends, and there is a potential for travel.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of power generators, diesel engines, electrical distribution equipment, HVAC equipment and/or oil free air compressors.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures at the shop and on customer locations and handle the repairs.
• You will either be out on your own or teamed up with other technician(s) to set up and operate equipment at the shop and on customer sites.

You are:

• High School diploma/GED
• 7+ years of experience working on power generators and/or commercial HVAC equipment, performing inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
• Experience with calculating nominal and effective tonnage and/or kW requirements, along with reading and knowing schematics.
• Based on the customer requirements, you may be required to obtain and maintain a TWIC card or valid DOT medical card
• Valid driver’s license

• Must be able to safely meet the physical demands outlined in the Essential Physical Capacities Assessment and pass the post-offer physical abilities assessment, which includes being able to lift (60 lbs.), push/pull (80 lbs.), carry (60 lbs.), climb stairs and ladders as well as a combination of climbing while carrying objects (15 lbs.), stoop, kneel and squat
