Job Summary
To provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well as performing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleet reliability.
Responsibilities
- Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet's lifecycle.
- Perform FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment in accordance with all legal and regulatory agencies.
- Conduct quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on all fleet vehicles, ensuring safety and reliability.
- Address driver-reported issues promptly and efficiently.
- Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs per manufacturer specifications, including engines, transmissions, drive-line, differential, steering, suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust, intake, electrical, brake, HVAC, and lift-gate systems.
- Follow proper documentation procedures on work orders.
- Develop proficiency in Sysco's computer programs and diagnostic tools.
- Perform electrical meter testing and electrical repairs, including welding projects as needed.
Qualifications
Education
- Medium / Heavy Duty truck technical training.
- High school diploma or GED required.
Experience
- 2-year technical school plus 1 year experience or 3 years of fleet maintenance experience.
- Valid driver's license.
Certifications
- Annual Inspector Certification.
- Brake Inspector Certification.
- Preferred: ASE certifications; Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks.
- 609 HVAC Certification.
Skills
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools.
- Own tools required for repairs; Sysco provides major tools.
- Expertise in vehicle systems and electrical diagnosis.
- Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, environmental regulations.
- Physical ability to perform repairs, including lifting up to 100 lbs and working in various environments.
