Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an experienced diesel mechanic to maintain and repair class 8 trucks and trailers at our Pottsville facilities. You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles, ensuring compliance with DOT standards and safety requirements.

You will work unsupervised as needed, communicate effectively with drivers and maintenance teams, and support a fast-paced distribution environment while upholding quality workmanship and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Effective communicator and team player.
• Experience with air brake, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Prior welding and fabrication experience preferred.
• Tire repair experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair truck/trailer components (doors, floors, panels, electrical, air brakes).
• Perform preventive maintenance on tractor and trailer equipment and complete repair orders.
• Maximize safety and reliability of fleet vehicles including tractors and trailers.
• Assist drivers with outstanding vehicle issues.
• Perform DOT inspections and compliance.
