Job summary

US Foods, Inc. is seeking a skilled heavy-duty diesel mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet at our Swedesboro, NJ facility.

You will diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on tractors, trailers, lift gates, and other equipment, ensuring DOT compliance and a safe work environment. The role requires at least 3 years hands-on experience, tool ownership, a valid driver's license, and the ability to read/record information.

Qualifications

• 3 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a heavy-duty commercial diesel mechanic.
• Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs.
• Independent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience administering a preventive maintenance program.
• Must furnish own personal hand tools.
• Able to read and write legibly for trainings, reports, and coaching.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, rebuild, replace and complete all required repairs on diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, bobtails, lift gates, etc.).
• Perform preventive maintenance within DOT standards.
• Receive road calls, coordinate with third-party vendors and business partners on action plans.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment per safety rules and regulations.
• Document equipment repair and parts used using the fleet maintenance software.
• Backup to other maintenance shop personnel.
• Willingness to take on increased responsibility and certifications.
• Other duties as assigned by manager.
