Job summary

United Rentals in Iowa City is seeking a Service Tech I to perform maintenance and repair on rental equipment, conduct safety checks, and demonstrate equipment to customers.

You will apply diesel, automotive, welding or other mechanical skills to service equipment, report conditions to management, and support delivery and pickup tasks. This is a stepping stone toward higher level tech roles in our Service Department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Basic knowledge of construction equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude including knowledge of tools applicable to position.
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills.
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance checks on rental equipment before and after use.
• Report machine condition to Management.
• Perform minor repairs and check oil, grease, fluids, and tagging for rental readiness.
• Demonstrate equipment for customers.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.
• Other duties assigned as needed.
