The York Maintenance Office of the South Carolina Department of Transportation in Rock Hill is seeking two qualified mechanics (Vehicle / Equipment Repair Techs) for a fast-paced shop. You will work on a wide variety of heavy equipment, diesel trucks and passenger vehicles, with a consistent Monday–Friday schedule from 7:30am to 4:00pm, including occasional overtime opportunities.

Under general supervision, you will diagnose and repair mechanical problems in motorized and specialty construction

Formación

• One and one-half (1.5) years of work experience that involved the independent performance of job duties directly related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.
• Completion of one (1) academic year of a South Carolina High School Automotive Technology or Diesel Engine curriculum may substitute for six (6) months of directly related experience.
• Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
• Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.

Responsabilidades

• Diagnoses, repairs or replaces parts on automotive gasoline engines, transmissions, brakes, exhausts, cylinder heads, valves, timing belts, and cooling systems.
• Performs wiring repairs, brake jobs, and tune ups on vehicles.
• Diagnoses the repairs or replacement of parts on all diesel-powered equipment assigned to SCDOT.
• Maintains and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulic motors, pumps, cylinders, mowing equipment, tractors, motor graders, rollers, and AMZ machines.
• Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled. Performs welding fabrication for repairs on various equipment and for making modifications to equipment to improve production.
