Qualified Rate : $33.34 Per hour
Please note that new hires in this role may be paid a lower hourly rate during their qualifying period. In addition, CN employees are also eligible to an employee share investment plan (ESIP), Pension, Benefits, Railroad Retirement Benefits (RRB) and other perks.

Job SummaryThe Diesel Engine Mechanic (HDM) is responsible for performing inspections, major and minor repairs, overhauls and servicing on all types of locomotives.

Newly hiredDiesel Engine Mechanics (HDM)take part in several weeks of training which includes classroom instructions and field training. The classroom training will take place at the CN Campus in Homewood, IL. The training guides the newDiesel Engine Mechanics (HDM)through the critical safety skills required to work on the railroad.
Once the classroom training is complete, theDiesel Engine Mechanics (HDM)will complete on-the job training to enhance his/her knowledge and skills. Successful completion of the training course is mandatory in order to work as aDiesel Engine Mechanics (HDM).
