Job summary

The Navy Seabee Foundation is seeking a dependable HEM Diagnostic Mechanic I to perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair work on heavy equipment including haul trucks, dozers and loaders. Qualifications

• Two years of mechanical/maintenance craft experience or equivalent education and hands-on repair exposure.
• Completion of academic and practical competencies, including LOP requirements for internal progression.
• Ability to read and interpret written instructions and blueprints.
• Ability to troubleshoot machine systems and prioritize repairs with sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment (haul trucks, loaders, dozers, graders).
• Remove, repair and install transmissions, engines, brakes, differentials and hydraulic/powertrain components.
• Maintain lubrication programs and inspect machine systems; operate cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks as needed.
• Weld using carbon arc, plasma, MIG, TIG and stick welding; act as Fill-in Supervisor when required.
• Train and mentor other employees; maintain work orders and conduct area inspections.

### DescriptionWhat You Will Do Perform diagnostic, maintenance and repair of heavy equipment such as, but not limited to: Haul Trucks, Water Trucks, Rubber Tire and Track Dozers, Front-end Loaders, and Motor Graders. Perform the removal, repair and installation of transmissions, engines, breaks, differentials, pumps, motors, torque convertors, final drives and other heavy equipment systems or components. Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance on machine systems such as: hydraulic, power train and engines. Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed. Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections. Operate mobile equipment such as: Overhead cranes, forklifts, and boom trucks. Perform welding such as: Carbon arc, Plasma, Mig, Tig, and Stick. Perform as a Fill-in Supervisor as required. Train and mentor other employees. Perform other duties as required.### RequirementsWhat You Bring To Freeport Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance. Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
