Job summary

First Student, Inc. is hiring a Diesel Technician for our Belton, MO shop. The role features a Monday–Friday day shift with a $1,500 sign-on bonus. Pay starts at $23.00 per hour (not flat rate) with potential increases for ASE tests passed, plus an excellent benefits package and year-round work.

You will maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability, performing PMs, inspections, and repairs as part of a close-knit team dedicated to student transportation across the community.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience.
• Valid driver's license required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment – company paid training provided.
• Possession of a mechanic's tool set to complete duties.
• Willingness to participate in the ASE certification program (training, testing, bonuses provided).

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and repair brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains and other components.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
