Job summary

First Student is seeking a Diesel Technician for our shop serving House Springs School District. The role offers a Monday–Friday day shift (6 am - 3:30 pm) with a $1,500 sign-on bonus and an hourly rate of $28–$30.

You will help maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability, with company-paid CDL Class B training and ASE testing available. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, holidays, boots allowance, and more.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of diesel or automotive maintenance and repair experience or equivalent technical schooling.
• Vehicle diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL Class B or ability to obtain within 60 days; company paid training.
• Possession of a mechanic’s tool set.
• Willingness to participate in ASE certification program; training and bonuses provided.
• Strong computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair school buses to ensure safety and reliability.
• Diagnose and perform repairs including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmissions.
• Perform preventive maintenance and safety inspections.
• Complete work orders accurately.
• Assist with mobile emergency repair services when needed.
