Job description

Join to apply for the Diesel Bus Mechanic (Class B) role at Academy Bus.

Academy Bus is seeking an experienced Class B Diesel Bus Mechanic for our Perth Amboy, NJ location.

Salary and shifts: $2500 Sign-on bonus. Day and night shifts available.

Responsibilities: Diesel Mechanic – Class B / Level 2

• Repair, troubleshoot, and diagnose modern tour buses.
• Perform reconditioning, preventative, and routine maintenance.
• Conduct inspections and road tests.
• Document warranty and repairs.
• Diagnose, inspect, install, disassemble, and clean components such as brakes, suspension, tires, bearings, seals, radiators, water pumps, coolant hoses, alternators, regulators, steering components, filters, door assemblies, controls, seats, belts, motors, pneumatic valves, cables, and linkages.
• Respond to road calls.
• Perform basic welding and fabrication.
• Assist Level A Mechanics with skilled work and train/supervise C Level Mechanics.

Requirements: Diesel Mechanic

• 4-7 years of diesel engine maintenance experience.
• Own tools required.
• Proven ability to use hand tools, power tools, hydraulic jacks, welding equipment, and testing instruments.
• Valid driver's license.
• Basic computer skills.
• CDL License with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements is a plus; willingness to obtain a CDL is desirable.
