Job summary

New York State Thruway Authority seeks a skilled automotive/diesel mechanic to perform maintenance, repair, and overhaul of gasoline, diesel, and alternative-fuel equipment in shops and in the field. The role may involve diagnosing faults and executing complex repairs on a variety of motor-driven equipment.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience diagnosing faulty vehicle and/or equipment operation and the performance of mechanical repairs.
• Substitution: education may substitute for up to two years of experience.
• A valid New York State driver's license for operating the vehicle type.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled mechanical work in automotive repair shops in maintenance, repair, and overhaul of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel equipment; may repair disabled vehicles and field equipment.
