Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Michigan is seeking a material handler to provide stock and die support for the Carton Department, ensuring timely availability and movement of materials and dies to maintain production efficiency.

You will work with production personnel, maintain tool and supply levels, and be prepared to obtain a Level 2 forklift license. High school diploma or GED and at least six months of experience are preferred; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum six months of work experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to obtain Level 2 forklift license if not already held.
• Basic arithmetic skills required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Good attendance and reliability required.
• Willing to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to perform all essential functions with or without accommodation.

The Opportunity

Provides stock and die support for the Carton Department by ensuring the timely availability, organization, and movement of materials and dies necessary to maintain efficient production operations. Responsible for monitoring stock levels, staging materials for production, locating and distributing dies as needed, and coordinating with production personnel to minimize downtime.

• Maintains supplies for presses (i.e., rags, solvents, etc.)
• Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Performs other job duties as assigned

What You Need to Succeed

• Preferred high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Preferred six months’ work experience.
• Must be able to read and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Must have ability to obtain Level 2 fork truck license, but doesn’t have to have a license already.
• Must be able to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
• Must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
