Job summary

APP in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a Conventional Machinist to operate conventional Die Shop machinery, prepare dies for forging, and create associated forge tooling. The role requires reading die drawings, performing layout on machines, and maintaining high quality and productivity in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include setting up mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders, wrapping and manufacturing tooling, and forklift handling. Knowledge of lean and SPC practices is desirable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of similar machining experience.
• Forklift certification required.
• Read and comprehend blueprints and die designs.
• Proficient in shop math including decimals, fractions, trig and geometry.
• Read and use precision measuring instruments.
• English reading, writing, verbal and comprehension.
• Detail-oriented, organized and able to meet deadlines.
• Communicate effectively with employees across all levels.

Responsibilities

• Operate conventional Die Shop machinery (mills, lathes, drill presses, grinders) with minimal supervision.
• Lay out work on machines according to die requirements.
• Machine wraps and rings; make forge tooling.
• Read and interpret die drawings.
• Transport dies by forklift.
• Perform basic die repairs and rework tryout dies.
• Ensure quality and production requirements are met.
• Participate in LEAN, SPC, and total quality management initiatives.
• Adhere to safety and company policies.
