Job summary

Job description

Job Summary

Provide accurate and timely setting of progressive and/or transfer dies into power presses to process finished goods that meet or exceed customer specifications. Direct press team to assist with tasks associated with die setting to make this task as efficient as possible.

Essential Job Functions
  • Inspect all dies before setup to ensure no foreign debris is on the top or bottom of the die.
  • Remove, install, and align progressive and/or transfer dies and material coils in mechanical power press according to specifications and instructions.
  • Adjust ram stroke to specified length.
  • Ensure first‑off pieces are disposed of properly in red buckets and that finished goods containers do not receive suspect parts (conveyor diversion, etc.).
  • Start presses to produce finished goods, observe operations to detect malfunctions, and verify press set‑up conforms to specifications. Obtain first‑piece sample(s).
  • Review first‑piece samples visually for defects and use check fixture to confirm first pieces are ready for quality approval.
  • Call Quality Auditor for first‑piece verification and review findings with auditor.
  • Inspect equipment, dies or materials to help troubleshoot and identify the cause of errors and defects.
  • Complete the necessary paperwork/Plex requirements.
  • Operate a press when necessary.
  • Provide proper training to any and all team members who are assigned to the Large Press Area.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Stop production in the event unsafe parts or conditions appear.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor and/or Manager, which may be outside the scope of responsibilities noted above.
Requirements
  • A high school education or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year experience in die‑setting or a related technical field, preferably in a metal stamping environment.
  • Read, interpret and comprehend safety, operating and maintenance documents and procedures.
  • Pass a mechanical aptitude test.
  • Operate a power press.
  • Complete a die‑setter training program.
  • Obtain or retain an Industrial Powered Lift Truck certification.
  • Obtain or retain an Overhead Crane certification.
  • Obtain or retain a Lock‑out/Tag‑out Authorization certification.
  • Perform multiple tasks in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment to ensure delivery requirements.
  • Lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Meet or exceed the job requirements of the position.
  • Work overtime (daily, weekends and holidays).
