Job summary

Findlay Products Corp. in Findlay, OH is seeking a Die Set Technician / Stamping Press Operator for the 2nd shift. You will maintain die setting, manage press parameters, and initiate production runs to a continuous mode.

Responsibilities include performing quality inspections, setting dies, transporting and changing dies, and coordinating with the Press Improvement Team to optimize press utilization and downtime. A strong mechanical inclination and safety discipline are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be mechanically inclined and proactive to improve performance.
  • Strictly adheres to safety regulations and maintain housekeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain die set Technician responsibilities on 2nd shift.
  • Operate stamping press and manage die settings.
  • Perform quality inspections including First Off/Last Off.
  • Transport dies and perform die set ups and changes.
  • Adjust gripper, end stops and coil feed to minimize downtime.
  • Assist Press Improvement Team with improvement initiatives.
  • Document issues with dies and presses and communicate to maintenance.
  • Train packers on proper procedures.

Description

Second Shift

Maintains the responsibilities and essential functions of a Die Set Technician.

Will have complete knowledge of die setting, press parameters, and the ability to start the press from a complete shutdown condition.

Initiates press production runs to a continuous mode.

Performs quality inspection checks, First Off/Last Off inspections and all “Inspection Strategy” procedures.

Transports dies, performs die sets ups and changes dies in transfer press according to the production schedule.

Performs all rail setups, and make sure they are hooked up correctly and working properly.

Installs, positions, and aligns dies on the bolster.

Trains part packers on how to perform their job properly.

Must be able to maximize each job/die when it is in the press.

Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through documented Team discussions. Improvement events will be used to optimize utilization of the transfer presses.

Must document all issues with a die and/or press in detail, and communicate those issues to the Press Improvement Teams.

Works intimately with the Press Improvement Team, Tool & Die and Maintenance to optimize press utilization, changeover time, press repairs and die repairs.

Required to make gripper adjustments, end stop adjustments and adjust coil feed parameters to minimize press downtime.

Performs small maintenance repairs, as needed.

Strictly adheres to all safety regulations, according to company policy.

Establish and maintain excellent housekeeping habits.

Performs other essential functions as assigned.
