Job summary

First Call Professional is hiring a skilled Die Maintenance Technician for an industrial manufacturing client in Edinburgh, IN. This direct hire opportunity focuses on press die maintenance, not injection molding, with hands-on grinding, welding, sharpening, and repair work.

Minimum of 6 months related experience is required, with the ability to read blueprints, operate CNC and conventional machines, and work independently or as part of a team in a safe, organized workspace.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain, and modify press machine dies.
• Perform grinding, sharpening, and welding (TIG/MIG preferred).
• Fit and assemble parts to build, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tooling.
• Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour accuracy, and defects.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using measuring tools.
• Study blueprints, sketches, models, and specifications to plan sequences of operations.
• Set up and operate conventional and/or CNC equipment including lathes, milling machines, grinders.
• Visualize and calculate dimensions, tolerances, and assembly specifications.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 am-3:30 pm)

Position Overview

This role focuses specifically on press machine die maintenance (not injection molding). We are seeking candidates with hands-on experience in grinding, welding, sharpening, and repairing metal dies used in press operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Repair, maintain, and modify press machine dies
• Perform grinding, sharpening, and welding (TIG/MIG preferred)
• Fit and assemble parts to build, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tooling
• Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour accuracy, and defects
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using measuring tools such as:
  • Calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Dial indicators
  • Gauge blocks
• Study blueprints, sketches, models, and specifications to plan sequences of operations
• Set up and operate conventional and/or CNC equipment including:
  • Lathes
  • Milling machines
  • Grinders
• Visualize and calculate dimensions, tolerances, and assembly specifications
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace
