Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Die Cutter Operator to oversee the production of the die cut machine and ensure the quality of the work produced. The role requires hands-on operation, setup, and alignment of dies.

You will load dies, feed at speed, perform make-ready, monitor quality, and troubleshoot production issues. Overtime is required, and you will support training of other die cut personnel.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively.
• Proficient Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

The Die Cutter Operator is responsible for the overall production of the machine and quality of the work produced.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock

• Set up and operate the die cut machine.
• Cutting matrix, mapping the die & help with make ready
• Load die in the machine, line it up, bolt it in place and lock it down
• Feed machine at speed
• Learning the skills necessary to operate assigned machinery.
• Responsible for prepping machine for the next production run, sheets, dies, etc.
• Evaluate production quality; bring concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist in training other die cut personnel.
• Troubleshoot production issues that may arise.
• Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Overtime is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed

• High School diploma or GED minimum.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. May require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• To perform the job successfully, an individual should have proficient Microsoft Office computer skills to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Must have prior die cut experience. Requires the ability to react quickly and make continuous adjustments to provide top quality products.
