Job summary

Smurfit Westrock plc in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Trimmer Operator to efficiently handle substrates and produce precise, high-quality die-cut work on our production line.

You will set up and operate the die-cut machine, feed at speed, and prepare equipment for the next run. You will monitor production quality, troubleshoot issues, train fellow die-cut personnel, and maintain safety and cleanliness on the shop floor. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read safety rules and manuals; basic math.
  • Proficient MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

The Opportunity

The Trimmer Operator position is responsible for efficiently handling a variety of substrates and utilizing them for precision and high-quality work.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock
  • Set up and operate the die cut machine.
  • Cutting matrix, mapping the die & help with make ready
  • Load die in the machine, line it up, bolt it in place and lock it down
  • Feed machine at speed
  • Learning the skills necessary to operate assigned machinery.
  • Responsible for prepping machine for the next production run, sheets, dies, etc.
  • Evaluate production quality; bring concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assist in training other die cut personnel.
  • Troubleshoot production issues that may arise.
  • Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Overtime is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed
  • High School diploma or GED minimum.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, job tickets and procedure manuals. May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. May require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • To perform the job successfully, an individual should have proficient Microsoft Office computer skills to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
