Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Trimmer Operator to efficiently set up and operate the die cut equipment, handling substrates to produce precision, high-quality work. You will learn and apply safety, quality controls, and production standards on the shop floor.

The role requires attention to detail, basic math, and ability to read work tickets. Candidates must be able to work overtime when needed and contribute to a clean, safe manufacturing environment at our facility.

Qualifications

• Ability to read safety rules and manuals.
• Basic math including units and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the die cut machine.
• Load and align dies; bolt and secure.
• Feed machine at speed and monitor quality.
• Assist in training die cut personnel.

• Overtime may be required.

The Opportunity

The Trimmer Operator position is responsible for efficiently handling a variety of substrates and utilizing them for precision and high-quality work.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock

• Set up and operate the die cut machine.
• Cutting matrix, mapping the die & help with make ready
• Load die in the machine, line it up, bolt it in place and lock it down
• Feed machine at speed
• Learning the skills necessary to operate assigned machinery.
• Responsible for prepping machine for the next production run, sheets, dies, etc.
• Evaluate production quality; bring concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist in training other die cut personnel.
• Troubleshoot production issues that may arise.
• Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Overtime is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed

• High School diploma or GED minimum.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, job tickets and procedure manuals. May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. May require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• To perform the job successfully, an individual should have proficient Microsoft Office computer skills to include Outlook, Word and Excel.
