Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a production operator to support a manufacturing operation, aiming to boost productivity, reduce downtime, and minimize waste. You will assist all plant floor jobs, set up and run machines per specifications, troubleshoot issues, and train helpers as needed.

You will perform quality checks, input maintenance work orders into BPMS, and collaborate to meet schedule targets while following safety rules and 5S standards.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Be passionate about maintaining a safe work environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Able to pass pre-employment background check and drug test.
• Must be able to sit, stoop, and bend.
• Ability to work any shift, including overtime and weekends as needed.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Ability to work in manufacturing environment with varying temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team to increase productivity, decrease downtime and waste.
• Assist all jobs on the plant floor as needed.
• Set-up and operate machine to produce product per customer specifications.
• Troubleshoot, perform minor repair, and preventative maintenance on machines.
• Train Helper as required.
• Perform quality checks and take action when needed.
• Input maintenance work orders into BPMS software and be proactive in equipment maintenance.
• Adhere to production schedule and suggest improvements to meet cost, quality, and service goals.
