Job summary

Fellowes Brands in Itasca, IL is seeking an experienced Die Cutter Operator to set up die cutters, feed systems and related equipment on a full-time basis. You will manage the die section, install cutting dies, calibrate the stacker, and ensure quality meets strict production specs.

The role requires a year of related operator experience, ability to use RF units, and careful adherence to safety and housekeeping policies.

Qualifications

• Must have 1 year of experience in a related operator role.
• Able to use RF units and hand tools.
• Comfort with lifting and physical requirements of a manufacturing role.
• Able to follow prints, manuals, and production orders to set up equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up die section, install cutting dies, and prepare the stacker.
• Lead end-to-end setup process, aligning feed and print station calibration to meet specs.
• Maintain clean, safe work environment according to policies.
• Train and mentor new Die Cut Helpers and temporary staff.
• Identify and report mechanical or quality issues to supervision.

Set up and operate Die Cutters, feed, and related equipment.

• Promote and maintain a safe and clean work environment through the enforcement of housekeeping safety policies. Perform general housekeeping. Continuous

• Work from prints, manuals, specifications, production orders and instructions to set up the die section, installing cutting dies and setting up the stacker while knowing and being capable to set up the entire die cutter. Frequent
• Lead and participate in the end to end setup process managing feed and print station calibration to meet strict production specifications. Frequent
• Set up stacker for correct speed and positioning. Check initial product and make necessary corrections, monitor run to maintain quality, register counts, and proper stacking of material. Continuous
• Perform routine maintenance and make minor repairs to ensure proper operational performance of the ink stations. Occasional
• Instruct and train Die Cut Helper on proper operations, safe practices and housekeeping following established practices or instruction and record production. Occasional
• Mentor and train Diecut Helper and incoming talent on end to end machine operations ensuring their capability to run production independently during primary operator absences. Occasional
• Communicate mechanical or quality problems to the department supervisor, superintendent, or equipment maintenance. Occasional

Position Requirements

• Successfully complete and pass required lift truck operation tests and training, and obtain and maintain appropriate lift truck licensing.
• Able to use RF (radio frequency) units.
• Able to pay close attention to detail and follow instructions/procedures to meet quality standards.
• Able to perform repetitive tasks (including physical requirements as described below) on a consistent basis.
• Must be able to perform pre-shift stretching (includes: bending, reaching and stretching with hands, arms, legs and feet and bending and twisting waist) as required for position.
• Able to work a 40 hour on-site work schedule. Maintain consistent and acceptable attendance. Available to work overtime as needed, including weekend work. Available for mandatory overtime as appropriate based on business demands.
• Able to fulfill all essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.
• Abide by all safety policies, procedures, rules, and guidelines in order preventand reduce exposure to accidents and injuries.
• Able to work in a team environment by assisting in training and facilitating job duties for other team members (including temps). Demonstrate a positive attitude.
• Use of hand tools, grinder and die cutting, printing and stacking equipment.
• One-year experience as an assistant ward operator or equivalent.
• Experience using hand tools, grinder and die cutting, printing and stacking equipment. Able to use tape measure, common hand tools, impact wrench, and die cutter and feed equipment.
• Able to work in a machine paced, team environment

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills and experience, among other factors.
