Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Ohio (Olde West Chester) is seeking a Die Cut Assistant on the 3rd shift to learn and support the Die Cut Operator. The role includes cross-training across die cut processes and maintaining safe, efficient production.

Key duties include feeding stock, setting up feed/stripper, mounting die plates, and helping ensure quality and cleanup. Candidates should have a high school diploma and prior machine operating experience; die cut experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED minimum.
• Previous machine operating experience required.
• Previous die cut experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
• Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Pushing stock, stacking and off-loading corrugated material from the machine.
• Feeding corrugated blanks into the machine for the job it is designed to run.
• Make necessary adjustments to substrate for warp and registration.
• Setting up the feed section and the stripper section of the machine.
• Mounting and retrieving die plates.
• Maintain overall quality and cleanliness of the machine.
• Assist the operator on all aspects during training.
• Fill in during the absence of the operator.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.
• Work safely and in accordance with company policies; overtime required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Die Cut Assistant

Summary

The Bobst Die Cut Assistant position is to prepare the individual to be a Die Cut Operator. This position will cross-train in all functions and tasks associated with running the die cut machines in our facility. To include but not limited to the tasks or positions of off bearer, feeder, and operator. The focus of this position is to learn and apply all knowledge and functional tasks necessary to run the die cut machines effectively and efficiently in order to maintain a safe working environment, good quality and to meet production goals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities Include The Following

• Responsible for setting up the feed section and the stripper section of the machine
• The mounting and retrieving of die plates
• Overall quality and cleanliness of the machine
• Assist the operator on all aspects as required during training
• Fill in during the absence of the operator
• Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Overtime is required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. May require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient Microsoft Office computer skills to include Outlook, Word and Excel.

The starting rate is $22.78 per hour, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 10 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
