Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a Clinical Patient Care Technician to join the dialysis team in Portland, OR. You will assist in setup and operation of dialysis machines, monitor patients, and support safety, infection control, and continuous quality improvement initiatives under RN supervision.

The role requires a high school diploma, PCT certification, licensure as needed by the state, and prior patient care experience. A cooperative team environment and ongoing training are offered.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or its equivalent is required.
• Must have a valid PCT national certification or state-specific certification as defined by CMS.
• All appropriate state licensure, education, and training may be required depending on state.
• At least five years of patient care experience in a hospital or related facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their wellbeing since their last treatment.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency, perform cannulation, and administer heparin as delegated or allowed by state law.
• Obtain necessary pre and post treatment vital signs and weight and perform vascular access evaluation pre-treatment.
• Initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders including blood flow (QB) and dialysate flow (QD).
• Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order or as directed.
• Monitor patients’ response to dialysis therapy and document accordingly.
• Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion; document and discontinue dialysis as per protocol.
• Record Hemodialysis Treatment data and ensure accurate documentation of treatments and progress notes.
• Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition to the registered nurse or supervisor.
• Maintain safe and clean environment and enforce infection control practices.
