Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in McComb, MS is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the dialysis health care team under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. You will assist in the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, and maintain a safe, clean work environment.

Responsibilities include patient education on adequacy measures, monitoring vitals and treatment parameters, vascular access evaluation, and supporting CQI activities to help achieve quality goals.

Qualifications

• At least five years patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility preferred.
• Continued employment depends on successful completion of the dialysis training program and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient education on adequacy measures (OLC, AMP, UKM).
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and cannulation; administer heparin as delegated.
• Obtain pre/post-treatment vitals and weight; document; monitor response to dialysis.
• Initiate dialysis per orders; manage QB and QD settings.
• Respond to intradialytic problems and implement physician-directed interventions.
• Discontinue dialysis per procedure and document patient status at termination.
• Record and document treatment data accurately in charting systems.
• Maintain infection control and environmental cleanliness; prepare labs and specimens.
