Job summary

Alaska Dialysis seeks a dedicated Patient Care Technician to support dialysis treatments, monitor patients, and ensure safety and comfort. You will prepare machines, document vitals, and assist with supplies while maintaining quality standards.

Requirements include a high school diploma, CPR within 90 days, and strong communication and organizational skills. This role offers 36 hours weekly with competitive benefits and relocation assistance to join our compassionate team.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required pre-employment.
  • Minimum of 3 months of dialysis, phlebotomy, or CNA/PCA experience preferred.
  • CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to distinguish primary colors by Ishihara Color Vision Test.
  • Successful completion of our dialysis training program within 12 weeks of hire.
  • CMS-approved national certification requirements must be met in a timely manner.
  • Must be flexible to work most days/times (no set shifts).
  • English language proficiency and good verbal/written communication.
  • Basic computer skills; proficiency in clinical applications within 90 days.

Responsibilities

  • Cares for and monitors patients before, during, and post dialysis treatment.
  • Prepares dialysis machine and its components for treatment.
  • Transports patients, records weight, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
  • Explains dialysis procedure and machine operation to patients to alleviate anxiety.
  • Inspects access area (fistula, graft, or catheter) for safety and cleanliness.
  • Inspects machine settings, including pressures, conductivity, and temperature for safety.
  • Starts patient treatment according to physician order.
  • Monitors patient for adverse reactions and machine malfunctions.
  • Assists in inventory and supply stocking in the dialysis clinic.
