Job summary

PIH Health is seeking a dialysis patient care technician (PCT) to support patients before, during, and after dialysis under the supervision of an acute inpatient dialysis RN. The role includes equipment QA, adherence to hospital policy and federal regulations, and collaboration with the care team to ensure patient safety and high-quality care.

The PCT will handle direct and non-direct patient care within scope, contribute to quality assurance of machines, and support infection control and safety

Qualifications

• Current hemodialysis technician certification.
• 2+ years prior experience as a dialysis technician.
• Current Basic Life Support card.
• Written and verbal communications, interpersonal skills.
• Basic organizational skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, infection control and safety practices.
• Clinical education related to specialty.
• Principles of patient/family teaching.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients before, during, and after dialysis.

Job description

The dialysis patient care technician (PCT) will provide care for the patient receiving dialysis, before, during and after the dialysis treatment, under the direct supervision and delegation of the acute inpatient dialysis Registered Nurse (RN). The dialysis PCT will provide direct and non-direct patient care, under their scope of practice, as deemed necessary by the acute inpatient dialysis RN. In addition, the dialysis PCT will provide quality assurance for machines and equipment in compliance with hospital policy and federal regulations.
