Job summary

PIH Health Hospital Whittier is seeking a Dialysis Patient Care Technician to support patients before, during, and after dialysis under the supervision of an acute inpatient dialysis RN. The PCT provides direct and non-direct patient care within scope of practice and participates in quality assurance for dialysis machines and equipment.

Requirements include current hemodialysis technician certification, 2+ years of dialysis experience, and a current BLS card. Acute care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Current hemodialysis technician certification is required.
• Two+ years of prior dialysis technician experience.
• Current Basic Life Support Card (BLS) is required.

Responsibilities

Job description

The dialysis patient care technician (PCT) will provide care for the patient receiving dialysis, before, during and after the dialysis treatment, under the direct supervision and delegation of the acute inpatient dialysis Registered Nurse (RN). The dialysis PCT will provide direct and non-direct patient care, under their scope of practice, as deemed necessary by the acute inpatient dialysis RN. In addition, the dialysis PCT will provide quality assurance for machines and equipment in compliance with hospital policy and federal regulations.
