Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in Columbia, MD is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join the hemodialysis health care team. You will provide safe dialysis care under the supervision of the FMCNA RN and assist in maintaining a clean, safe environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma, a valid PCT certification, and CMS-defined licensure. One to two years of related experience, ability to travel between facilities, and hands-on duties such as cannulation and machine programming are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a valid PCT national certification or CMS state certification and appropriate licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care under RN supervision in the acute setting.
• Maintains a safe, clean work environment and supports quality improvement activities.
• Sets up and primes dialysis equipment as directed by Fresenius Nurse.
• Performs vital signs, weight checks, and records treatment data.
• Evaluates vascular access and cannulation, reporting abnormalities to RN.
• Operates and programs dialysis machines per orders, including UF and Na modeling.
• Ensures safety alarms and NVL parameters are correctly set.
• Assists with patient termination and discharge procedures.
• Assists with specimen labeling and lab delivery as required.
• Travel between facilities and locations within the community.

Education
