Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care in the United States is seeking a dialysis patient care technician to join our clinical team. Under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, you will help set up and operate hemodialysis machines and provide safe, effective therapy, while maintaining a clean, safe environment.

You will educate patients on adequacy measures, monitor vitals, cannulate vascular access, administer heparin as allowed, and document all treatments and outcomes in the chart.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
• CMS-approved state or national certification within required state or CMS timeline.
• All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required.
• Demonstrated commitment to organization culture, values, and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

• Education of patients regarding adequacy measures and dialysis processes when appropriate.
• Welcome patients and assess wellbeing since last treatment.
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and assist in cannulation per protocol.
• Record vital signs, weight, and dialysis parameters; document changes accurately.
• Set up dialysis machines, monitor alarms, and adjust UF goals as prescribed.
• Monitor patient response to dialysis and intervene per physician orders.
• Safety; maintain clean environment and adhere to infection control practices.
• Assist in training direct care staff under RN supervision.
• Document CQI activities and enter data into clinical systems.
