Job summary

Alaska-Dialysis is seeking a Dialysis Biomedical Equipment Technician to service dialysis and water treatment equipment at our Juneau clinic in Alaska. You will perform repairs, maintain documentation, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

A high school diploma/GED is required; an AA degree in electronics/biomedical technology is preferred, with prior dialysis or hospital experience desirable.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • AA degree in electronics, biomedical technology, or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous dialysis, hospital, or medical experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to work independently with a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee repair and maintenance of water treatment, dialysis, ancillary equipment and related facilities in compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Document all repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Handle high voltage equipment safely and according to procedures.
  • Purchase and maintain inventory of service parts; manage warranties and RGAs.
  • Support Quality Improvement (QAPI) and regulatory compliance efforts.
  • Collect and process water/dialysate samples; review quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and/or oversee repair and maintenance activities on water treatment equipment, dialysis equipment, ancillary equipment, test equipment, and the physical plant for assigned areas/facilities as recommended by the manufacturer and in compliance with FMCNA Clinical/Technical Services policies and procedures, industry standards and local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Document all repairs and maintenance activity/repairs per applicable policies and/or procedures.
  • Employee is required to work on high voltage equipment.
  • Purchase and maintain inventory of service parts.
  • Ensure defective parts with associated RGA and warranty parts are returned in a timely manner.
  • Actively support and participate in the Quality Assessment and Process Improvement (QAPI) process.
  • Work with facility staff to ensure all regulatory and OSHA requirements are met.
  • Perform water/dialysate sample collection and processing per applicable policies and procedures.
  • Review, evaluate and report water/dialysate quality results per applicable policies and procedures.
  • Transport equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • All attained certifications must be maintained and current.
  • Attend all technical training programs required by state/federal regulations and USRC policy.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work independently and a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

Physical Job Requirements:

  • Frequent long periods of standing, bending, stooping, walking, sitting
  • The use of dollies or other equipment is mandatory when moving heavy weight items.
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as high as 5 feet.
