Job summary

UPMC is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to perform imaging procedures with independence and professional judgment. The role includes assisting physicians during invasive procedures, ensuring exams are properly coded, and networking data to ISITE for archiving and interpretation.

Candidates must be trained in a CAAHEP-accredited ultrasound program and obtain RDMS/RVT or ARRT(S) within 12 months. Strong patient communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians with invasive procedures per universal protocol standards.
• Ensure exams are coded and tracked in RIS and networked to ISITE for archiving and interpretation.
• Possess ability to disinfect devices, supplies, and equipment as needed.
• Communicate procedures clearly to patients and help alleviate fears to gain cooperation.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and apply departmental protocols for optimal results.
