Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Ophthalmic experience is a plus; training available.
• CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing of the eye, including OCT macula, OCT optic nerves, Lenstar, ORB scan, Fundus photos, EPIC (OPD and glare).
• Assist with calls and emails: triage, RX refills, questions about chart/plan.
• Familiarize with basic ocular conditions and diseases.
• Maintain and sterilize room and equipment; operate devices as directed.
• Assist technicians and scribes as needed.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications and understand basic ocular pharmacology.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff; provide excellent customer service.
• Work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Basic computer skills and EMR navigation.

JOB TITLE: Diagnostic Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of the Diagnostic Technician is to work relatively close with the clinic physicians to perform basic, advanced, and complex testing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform the necessary diagnostic testing of the eye while having a basic understanding and knowledge of these tests such as
  • OCT macula, OCT optic nerves, Lenstar, ORB scan, Optos Fundus photos, EPIC (OPD and glare), IMMERSION and HVF, any other related tests as needed
• Assist with answering calls and emails: Triage, RX Refills, questions regarding patient chart/plan, etc.)
• Become familiar with basic conditions and diseases of the eye
• Maintains and sterilizes room and equipment, properly turning on and off all equipment
• Assists Technicians and Scribes as needed
• Administers topical ophthalmic medication and understanding basic ocular pharmacology; names of meds and their uses
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Previous healthcare or patient-care experience preferred, but not required
• Ophthalmic experience is a plus, but willing to train the right candidate
• CPR certification preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable working with patients and providing excellent customer service
• Able to learn and perform basic diagnostic testing accurately
• Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic medical record (EMR) systems
