Job summary

Plan A Health in Plano, TX seeks a Diagnostic Technician to perform eye diagnostic tests and support clinicians with procedures such as OCT, Lenstar, ORB scan and fundus photography.

You will assist with patient calls, triage, chart inquiries and RX refills, while maintaining exam rooms and sterilizing equipment. Training is available for ophthalmic testing and EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and customer service skills required.
• Able to learn diagnostic testing and EMR systems.
• Healthcare/ophthalmic experience preferred; training available.

Responsibilities

• Perform eye diagnostic testing (e.g., OCT, Lenstar, ORB scan, Optos fundus photos) with test‑procedure expertise.
• Assist with patient calls, emails, triage, RX refills and chart inquiries.
• Maintain and sterilize equipment and exam rooms.
• Support technicians and scribes as needed.
• Administer topical ophthalmic medications and understand basic ocular pharmacology.

Job description

We are seeking a Diagnostic Technician to collaborate with clinic physicians in performing a variety of eye diagnostic tests, including OCT, Lenstar, ORB scan, Optos Fundus photos, EPIC, IMMERSION, HVF, and related procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Performing diagnostic testing with a solid understanding of test procedures and eye conditions
• Assisting with patient calls, emails, triage, RX refills, and chart inquiries
• Maintaining and sterilizing equipment and exam rooms
• Supporting technicians and scribes as needed
• Administering topical ophthalmic medications and understanding basic ocular pharmacology

Qualifications And Skills

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Previous healthcare or patient‑care experience preferred; ophthalmic experience is a plus but training is available
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Ability to learn diagnostic testing and EMR systems accurately
• Attention to detail, organization, dependability, and teamwork skills
• Bilingual skills are advantageous
