Job summary

Ochsner Health System in New Orleans, LA is seeking an experienced diagnostic medical sonographer to perform advanced ultrasound procedures in collaboration with radiologists. The role includes mentoring junior staff and students, and ensuring high-quality imaging per safety standards.

The candidate should have completion of a CAHEA approved diagnostic medical sonography program, RDMS or registry-eligible, and BLS certification. 2 years of sonographer experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Proficiency with computers, software and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication across patient care teams.
• Knowledge of abdominal anatomy and ability to perform ultrasound and support radiologists.

Responsibilities

• Verify physician order and procedure accuracy.
• Operate ultrasound equipment to complete imaging per protocol.
• Explain procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Review images for diagnostic quality before transmission.
• Assist radiologists in guided procedures and support departmental operations.
