Job summary

Ochsner Health System is seeking a Sonographer at St. Charles Parish Hospital in Louisiana for a full-time role. You will perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures in collaboration with staff radiologists and mentor junior staff.

The position requires CAHEA-approved training, RDMS eligibility within 1 year, and BLS certification, with a preference for 2 years of experience and a flexible schedule. Focus is on patient safety and high-quality imaging.

Qualifications

• Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 schedule.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy.
• Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Operates imaging equipment independently according to protocol.
• Reviews patient images for diagnostic quality.
• Completes quality control procedures per regulatory standards.
• Assists in departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance).
• Adapts communication to patient population and obtains permissions.
• Performs other related duties as required.
