This posting reflects an opening for an X-ray Technologist I, and we are seeking candidates for that position. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role, including X-ray Technologist II, based on skills, qualifications, and experience. We encourage all qualified individuals to apply.

Radiologic Technologists are responsible for administering ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures, acquire and analyze data for diagnosis, and work under the supervision or independently, as appropriate. They also prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with laws and policies.

Job Duties
  1. Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared, and clinical history is documented while respecting confidentiality.
  2. Utilize appropriate imaging protocols, optimize technical factors, maximize patient safety, and apply ALARA principles.
  3. Prepare and/or administer medications via vascular access as prescribed.
  4. Evaluate images for proper positioning and quality, verify storage and transfer of data, and perform post-processing if applicable.
  5. Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
  6. Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized procedures.
  7. Perform diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures outside the Radiology Department as needed.

Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. The role requires compliance with all policies and procedures, and additional department-specific skills may be necessary.

Position Details
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry within 6 months of hire.
  • Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.
Education & Experience

Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Radiologic Technology (Required). Certified Radiology Technologist within 24 months by ARRT.
