Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role, including X-ray Technologist II, based on their skills, qualifications, and experience. Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and acquire and analyze data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Radiologic Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in completing radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. They prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policies.

Job Duties

1. Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
2. Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
3. Prepare and/or administer medications through new or existing vascular access sites as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
4. Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, post-processing data if applicable.
5. Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
6. Assist the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
7. Perform diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, including those outside the Radiology Department (e.g., Operating room, Endoscopy, ICU).
