Job summary

Geisinger is seeking Radiologic Technologists for the Shamokin Area Community Hospital. This position involves the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic and research purposes. Candidates will perform various radiographic procedures and educate other healthcare providers.

Qualifications

Job description

Location: Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital (GSACH)

Shift: Rotation

Job Summary

Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. A Radiologic Technologist performs a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Radiologic Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Radiologic Technologists prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and optimize technical factors while maximizing patient safety and applying principles of ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable).
  • Prepare and/or administer, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verify archival storage and/or transfer of data, post-processing of data if applicable.
  • Educate and monitor students and other health care providers.
  • Assist the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic and non‑interpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, including those procedures performed outside of the Radiology Department (Operating room, Endoscopy, ICU, etc.).
  • Accountable for satisfying all job‑specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • New graduates must obtain ARRT‑R registry within 6 months of the date of hire.
  • Applicants hired after March10,2024 must complete steps required for advancing to level2 within 24 months.
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program‑Radiologic Technology (Required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience (Preferred).
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Radiography (R) Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
