Diagnostic Radiology Technologist - GMC- Full Time - Days - Operating Room

Job Summary: Part-time and full-time positions are eligible for participation in Geisinger’s Imaging Technologist Clinical Ladder program. The ladder level you qualify for at hire will be dependent on experience and certifications. Salary commensurate with experience. $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible applicants!

Radiologic Technologists are responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes. A Radiologic Technologist performs a full scope of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures and acquires and analyzes data needed for diagnosis at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Radiologic Technologists independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in the completion of radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Radiologic Technologists prepare, administer, and document activities related to medications and radiation exposure in accordance with federal and state laws, regulations, or lawful institutional policy.

Job Duties
  1. Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  2. Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  3. Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  4. Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  5. Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  6. Assisting the licensed practitioner with fluoroscopic and specialized radiologic procedures.
  7. Performing diagnostic radiographic and noninterpretive fluoroscopic procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner, including those procedures performed outside of the Radiology Department (i.e., Operating room, Endoscopy, ICU, etc.).
  8. Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
  9. Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties, including all procedures in the Operating Room.
  10. Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.

Basic Life Support Certification - Default Issuing Body; Certified Radiology Technologist within 24 months - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
