The role requires ARRT RT(R) certification (or board-eligible with credential within 6 months), BLS, and a state ISDH license. Safety and precise documentation are essential components of daily duties.

Qualifications

  • BLS certification required (American Heart Association).
  • Active ARRT RT(R) certification or board-eligible Radiologic Technology; must credential within 6 months if board-eligible.
  • Indiana ISDH license as Radiologic Technologist or ISDH Radiology Student Permit required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate imaging equipment (x-ray, fluoroscopy) in surgical settings.
  • Explain exam to patients and position them correctly.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians to ensure accurate imaging.
  • Follow radiation safety protocols and monitor patient safety during exams.
  • Document patient history and findings in the EMR.
  • Assist with minimally invasive procedures as needed.

Overview

Operates imaging equipment such as x-ray, fluoro, portable x-ray, and fluoroscopy equipment used in surgery. Prepares patients by explaining exam and positioning them correctly. Collaborates with radiologists and referring physicians to ensure accurate imaging. Follows radiation safety protocols. Documents detailed patient history. Stays current with continuing education. Monitors patients during exam for safety. Documents necessary information in EMR. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.

  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • Requires active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R), through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or a recent graduate of an approved training program in Radiologic Technology (board eligible). If board eligible, must obtain credential in Radiography within 6 months of hire.
  • Requires current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist or a current ISDH Radiology Student Permit.
