Job description

Radiology Technician (X‑Ray)

Location: 741‑925 Herlong Access Rd. A25, Herlong, CA 96113

Status: Full‑Time

Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, not to exceed 40 hours per week.

Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Fully licensed to perform radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Licensed by the state of California
  • At least three years of experience
  • CPR certified, according to the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Submit evidence of graduation from an accredited school of radiology technology
Duties (not limited to)
  • Capable of performing any and all radiology procedures without technical support
  • Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by medical staff for the inmate population
  • Transmit, retrieve X‑ray images and reports electronically, and scan reports into inmates’ Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR)
  • Retrieve radiographic consults from BEMR and schedule them for completion
  • Work with an inmate population from diverse cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibration and repair
  • Possess knowledge of emergency situations that may occur during special radiographic procedures
  • Schedule exams and maintain records
  • Recognize various pathological abnormalities via radiographic imaging
  • Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions for quality diagnostic exams; provide patient education to alleviate anxiety
  • Independently perform all radiographic procedures; e.g., chest, bone, skull, spine, portable x‑rays
  • Notify the radiologist or referring physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen during an exam, so additional views or exams can be ordered if needed
  • Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed
  • Act as liaison between radiologist and medical staff
  • Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional medical service protocols
  • Develop a working knowledge of local medical protocols
  • Wear outer protective clothing and obey CDC universal precautions at all times
  • Perform other duties commensurate with a Radiology Technician
  • Computerize and print daily logs
  • Computerize and print exam requisitions
  • Print all folder and exam labels
  • Complete all x‑ray studies ordered by medical staff
  • Prepare x‑rays for shipment to the radiologist for interpretation
  • Transport x‑rays to the radiologist for interpretation
  • Retrieve all x‑rays from radiologist after interpretation
  • Assist staff with equipment and supply maintenance, and notify staff when supplies are needed
  • Conduct quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on x‑ray equipment as needed
  • Assist with FDA inspections and preparation for TJC and program review as needed
  • Ensure all x‑ray requests are completed properly
  • Computerize patient logs and perform repeat analysis
