Job description

Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) assignments at this level are above the full performance level, performing the full range of duties. They perform a wide variety of complex ultrasound (US) imaging examinations to aid in diagnosis and treatment.

Qualifications

Applicants pending completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.

Basic Requirements:

  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens.
  • Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology - Radiography (ARRT) (R).
  • Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments involving computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or Ultrasound (US), including Mammography (M) duties performed independently.
  • Education: Completion of a 24-month or equivalent post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, accredited by JRCERT or recognized agencies.
  • Credentialing Standards: Must meet standards in 42 CFR Part 75, including certification as radiographers and meeting credentialing standards for the profession.
  • Experience: At least one year of related experience demonstrating clinical competencies.

Grade Determinations:

GS-9 level requires fully functional advanced DRT duties, independent operation, and demonstration of specific technical KSAs, including the ability to perform complex scans, assess contraindications, and provide patient care.

Duties include:

  • Reviewing requests, determining procedures, positioning patients, explaining procedures, operating ultrasound equipment, and performing exams like AAA, abdomen, breast, carotid, DVT, gallbladder, kidney, liver, pelvis, scrotum, spleen, thyroid, and biopsies.
  • Monitoring patient condition, assisting in evaluations, training personnel, developing training plans, performing equipment maintenance, and ensuring quality control.

Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Compensation includes a competitive salary, paid time off, parental leave, childcare subsidy, retirement options, and federal insurance benefits.
