Job summary

The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Diagnostic Radiographer to perform a range of diagnostic imaging examinations and to work across the imaging department. You will explain procedures, position patients, and ensure high-quality images support accurate diagnosis.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will rotate through areas, follow NHS regulations, and work a shift pattern that includes nights, weekends, and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Band 5 Radiographer role performing diagnostic imaging examinations.
• Follow NHS regulations and radiation protection guidelines.
• Rotate through areas and work nights/weekends/on-call.

Responsibilities

• Perform a range of diagnostic imaging examinations (mainly general X‑rays) safely and accurately
• Explain procedures and obtain consent
• Position patients correctly to produce high-quality diagnostic images
• Operate imaging equipment in line with departmental protocols and safety standards
• Follow radiation protection guidelines to ensure safety
• Check images for quality before submission for reporting
• Carry out daily equipment checks
• Maintain IPC standards
• Complete QA procedures
• Rotate through different areas (A&E, inpatients, outpatients, theatre)
• Participate in shift work including nights, weekends, and on-call duties
• Support service delivery by managing workload and prioritising urgent cases
• Engage in ongoing professional development
