Diagnostic Imaging Technician-Sonographer-PD

Job Summary: Under indirect supervision, performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations and produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs used by physicians to diagnose disease processes and delineate normal and abnormal human anatomy, as well as pathological conditions in areas such as the abdomen, superficial structures (breast, musculoskeletal), pelvis, gravid uterus, and others. Includes obstetrics (maternal uterus, Adnexa, fetal biophysical profile, amniocentesis) and interventional procedures like biopsies, aspirations, and drainage procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Uphold Kaiser Permanente policies, procedures, principles of responsibilities, and applicable laws.
• Maintain professional behavior, create a positive image, and respond to the needs of members and coworkers.
• Recognize cultural diversity and make accommodations accordingly.
• Understand the maturation process in service delivery to various age groups.
• Operate ultrasound equipment to obtain diagnostic images, assist in sterile procedures, and perform special applications such as biopsies.
• Prepare patients, explain procedures, and consult with physicians regarding medical history.
• Document clinical activity accurately and maintain equipment and work area.

Pay Grade: 27

Experience and Qualifications:

• NT certification for Nuchal Translucency procedures in OB-GYN, as stipulated.
• Knowledge of diagnostic medical sonography principles and techniques.
• Ability to operate ultrasound equipment and recognize normal and pathological findings.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and superior service skills.

Education: Specialty registration in abdominal, cardiac, cardiovascular, or vascular sonography may be required.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers).
• OB-GYN certification from the same registry.
• Nuchal Translucency Certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years of clinical experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer in an acute care setting.

Notes:

• Availability for eight shifts per month, including weekends and holidays.
