Diagnostic Imaging Technician-Sonographer-PD

Job Summary

Under indirect supervision, performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations and produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs. These recordings are used by physicians to diagnose disease processes and delineate normal and abnormal human anatomy, as well as pathological conditions in various areas of the body, including the abdomen, superficial structures, pelvis, gravid uterus, and others. The role also involves obstetrics procedures and interventional procedures such as biopsies, aspirations, and drainage procedures.

Responsibilities

• Uphold Kaiser Permanente policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Maintain professionalism and a positive image. Accommodate cultural diversity and patient needs. Schedule appointments, prepare patients, explain procedures, and consult with physicians regarding patient history. Operate ultrasound equipment, perform special application exams, select transducers, and adjust controls. Record and process diagnostic images, discuss results with physicians, and document clinical activities. Maintain equipment and supplies, and ensure effective communication.

Experience & Qualifications

• NT certification for Nuchal Translucency procedures in OB-GYN. Knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles. Ability to operate ultrasound equipment and recognize normal and pathological conditions. Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and service orientation.

Education & Certification

• Specialty registration in abdominal, cardiac, or vascular sonography may be required depending on assignment. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate from ARDMS. Nuchal Translucency Certification. BLS certification.

Additional Requirements & Preferences

• Must provide 10 shifts per month, including 4 weekends, and be available on holidays. Preferred: 2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
