Job summary

Allina Health’s Diagnostic Imaging Assistants support technologists and deliver patient-centered care. You assist with transporting patients, preparing exam rooms, and helping with imaging procedures while maintaining electronic files and coordinating information flow between patients and clinics.

This role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and effective communication with physicians and staff. It is a casual, 8-hour shift position with weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous patient care or Medical Terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serves as link between physicians, clinics and service departments and coordinates workflow.
• Assists Technologist in delivering patient care, screens patients for exams, transports and positions patients.
• Provides image and data management and ensures EMR documentation and secure access to patient information.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Prioritizes customer needs.
• Medium Work*:

Provides safe, quality patient care, while assisting technologist with transport and care of patients. Maintains electronic files, distributes patient reports and coordinates information flow between patients and clinics. Other patient care and clerical functions as assigned.

Principle Responsibilities

• Serves as link between physicians, clinics and service departments
  • Enters orders and schedules exams as needed.
  • Communicates physician requests to appropriate department staff.
  • Coordinates workflow with Clinics, service departments and physicians.
  • Prioritizes customer needs.
  • Provides information regarding special instructions, exam preps, arrival times or special needs.
  • Keeps leadership advised of any issues or concerns.
• Assists Technologist in delivering patient care
  • Screens patients for exam.
  • Delivers necessary imaging supplies.
  • Transports, transfers and positioning of patient.
  • Distributes completed exam to radiologist for interpretation.
  • Restocks and prepares exam room for procedures.
• Provides image and data management
  • Ensures secure and appropriate access of patient information .
  • Documents image data release in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the electronic storage and retrieval system (EMI).
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Previous patient care or Medical Terminology

Licenses/Certifications

• Must meet at least ONE of the requirements below
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross
• Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire)

Physical Demands

• Medium Work*:
• Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently
• Casual (0.0 FTE) position
• 8-hour day/evening shifts
• Occasional weekends

Pay Range

Pay Range: $17.45 to $23.77 per hour

The pay described reflects the base hiring pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
