Job summary

East Alabama Medical Center is seeking a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) to educate and support patients and families dealing with diabetes and other chronic conditions. The role involves direct patient interaction and group education to improve health outcomes in the community.

The successful candidate will hold RN or related licensure, have two years of relevant experience, and meet licensure requirements (BLS within 90 days).

Qualifications

• RN or professional with required licensure.
• Two years experience in nursing, dietetics, social work, or exercise physiology including diabetes care.
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, with state licensure as required.
• BLS within 90 days of hire/transfer.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• Two years diabetes patient care management and education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group education and support to people with diabetes and other chronic health conditions.
• Work directly with patients and their families to promote health and wellness.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of diabetes care guidelines and licensure requirements.
