Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools seeks a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist to support DHH teachers and students. This role collaborates with the special education supervisor to develop, coordinate, and implement DHH programs across PreK-12, providing direct classroom support and mentoring to new DHH staff.

The position emphasizes strong ASL communication, collaboration with families, educators, and specialists, and active participation in professional development activities for staff and parents.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in Deaf/Hard of Hearing with progressively increasing responsibilities.
• Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills, including ASL.

Responsibilities

• Works with the DHH supervisor to ensure services are provided to students; attends IEP meetings as needed and informs staff and parents of key aspects of the DHH program.
• Assists in recruitment and retention efforts for DHH teachers and interpreters.
• Develops, coordinates, and monitors DHH programs for PreK-12; presents staff development activities for staff and parents; collaborates with families and professionals.
• Coordinates interpreter training efforts and serves as liaison for Region IV training grant.
