Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking an experienced classroom teacher for the deaf & hard of hearing (DHH) pathway. The role reports to the building principal and focuses on meeting individual education program goals within district guidelines.

The ideal candidate will hold a Washington State Teaching Certificate with Special Education Endorsement, and have experience or training in urban, diverse classrooms, including adapting instruction for students with varying needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or relevant field.
• Teaching experience or training in special education.
• Ability to design and adapt instruction for diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Foster an educational environment to support learning and growth for students with special needs.
• Plan instructional programs and individualized lesson plans; adapt as needed.
• Use effective instructional methods and materials aligned to curriculum.
• Establish classroom policies, supervise students, and provide guidance.
• Collaborate with families, specialists, and staff to support IEP goals.
• Develop and monitor IEPs; prepare progress reports for guardians.
• Direct and supervise assigned aides and ensure student safety.
